ANNUAL LIBRARY CONFERENCE HELD
The intellectual backbone of an educational institution
is the library. For the past 50 years, the UE Library served the students, faculty, employees and even the administration
to enrich their knowledge for the betterment of the University. Because of the vital contribution of UE Library in the development
of the University, the administration gives full support to the library employees in terms of compensation and benefits.
Last June 6, 2008, the UE Library employees and its management staff held their 50th general assembly at
the Reference section, 3rd floor, P.O. Domingo Building, UE Manila. The program was started by the invocation led by Ms. Sarah A. Banquilles (SA), followed by the Philippine
National Anthem, conducted by Ms. Sahlee T.Rivera (SA). Assistant Director Manzalay greeted the participants by giving her
welcome remarks. Dir. Annie Villegas and Asst. Dir. Malou P. Santos discussed about the personnel care. A student assistant
from UE Caloocan library, Ms. Beverlyn G. San Pedro, talked about the contract of SA’s in the library. She conferred
the benefits she are enjoying right now as SA of the library, such as full time scholarship plus an allowance of Php 600.00
per month, she said that her training as SA is an opportunity to give her a foretaste of an office work. However, as SA she
must observe all the conditions stated in the contract. Ms. Rosalind P. Balingit felt so blessed when she enumerated the numerous
benefits of the employees, such as vacation leave, sick leave, maternity and paternity leave, emergency leave, birthday leave,
medical and dental benefits, medicine refund, free hospitalization at the UERM, educational benefits, uniform allowance, and
retirement benefits. It is evident that UE administration never ceases to give what is due to its employees, and in return
the UE library employees give their full potential to serve the University. Ms. Emelicita H. Dela Cruz and Ms. Fely A. Diego
discussed about the library customer care. The staff of UE library Manila and Caloocan
were presented by Ms.Lina Manzalay and Ms. Elvira Alejandrino respectively. Ms. Annabelle T. Gatmin, a senior librarian from
UE Caloocan served as emcee of this assembly.
